I am responsible for the Wade Hampton High School Red Guardsmen Marching Band in the fall. The marching band consists of selective seventh/eighth graders and ninth through twelfth graders. We attend SCBDA marching competitions include Lower State and this year State competition. We attend all home, away, and playoff football games to cheer on our Red Devil football team. We marching in local and other parades including the Watermelon Festival, Shrimp Festival, Town of Hampton, Martin Luther King Jr., Hampton and Yemassee Christmas Parades, and Relay for life this year. I am also responsible for seventh and eighth grade band at North District Middle School. I teach these students the fundamental necessary to be successful musicians as they approach the high school band. I also start beginning band students at Hampton Elementary School which houses fifth and sixth grade students. These students learn the basics of theory, posture, instrument carriage, and proper playing techniques before approaching the middle school.

Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band

While at Williams Middle School I taught sections of Music Appreciation to seventh and eighth students. Throughout the class we discussed the basics of music theory, composition, and a brief history of music genres from the 1800's to present day. In addition I developed a percussion ensemble that met five days a week. This ensemble was comprised of beginning and advanced students. We worked on reading skills, posture, hand position, and overall technique through ensemble playing. There were also several sections of band including separate winds, brass, and percussion classes. In addition there was also an advanced class of IB students.
