    RocketSports (http://rocketsports.co.uk) was an online platform to help people access sports at a grass roots/amateur level and manage sports teams, events, clubs and leagues.The application ran on Rails 3.2 and Ruby 1.9.2 and used Devise, Cancan and Omniauth for authentication / authorisation, Draper and Cells to simplify the views, and ActiveAdmin to provide an administration interface.Tests were written in Cucumber and Rspec.The application was created working in collaboration with the designer on the site design, layout and user journey.The designer supplied HTML and PSD files and one global.css file which where translated to HAML and SASS using Compass and the Blueprint grid.jQuery, CoffeeScript, and AJAX were used on the front end for client-side validation, auto completion of fields and generally making the user experience smoother.A previous version of the application had been developed by a number of different developers at different times with no continuity, leading to a fragmented codebase where much of the code’s intent was not clear and large areas of code and tests were commented out. After an initial spike to judge the viability of rewrite the code was completely rewritten, reaching a similar level of functionality after around twelve weeks.
