I conduct research on the purple non-sulfur alphaproteobacterium Rhodopseudomonas palustris in the Fixen Lab at the University of Minnesota, in the department of Plant and Microbial Biology. The focus of this lab is to investigate intracellular electron transport, and to better understand how to manipulate these pathways to generate more energy-efficient microorganisms.

As a Sophomore Guild Leader (SGL) I acted as a learning assistant and mentor for 8 first-year College of Biological Sciences (CBS) undergraduate students in the Nature of Life Program, a first-year program for CBS; BIOL 1805, Nature of Life Part I (Fall 2017) and BIOL 1806, Nature of Life Part II (Spring 2018). I facilitated group discussion during the the class' Individual-Guild Meetings; and I grade and provide feedback for these students' writing assignments.
