His initial role was to work with Facilities Management to utilize AutoCAD to draft floor plans of four buildings located in the Southwest Federal Center Complex of Washington, D.C in which he discovered overspent rent costs. That role was extended to recommending and implementing furniture changes, and then to planning, coordinating, and managing space renovation and redesign projects. His role then expanded into IT. He was then given projects to strengthen the collaborative efforts of Facilities Management and IT, which started with conceptualizing, developing, and introducing a more efficient and effective Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to maximize customer service including equipment and space request procedures. This lead to John conceptualizing, recommending, and implementing tasks into Administration Assistant’s SOPs to further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Facilities Management. He was then given sufficient experience to draft policies and procedures of functional and administrative areas in order to plan, coordinate, and manage facilities and space management projects. John worked with three other peers to research photovoltaic and semi-conductor materials and develop photoelectrolysis testing apparatus that served to standardize a testing method and procedure for optimal voltage output and efficiency in solar hydrogen as an undergraduate thesis. They were recognized by the Engineering Department to be well versed in sustainability and the design process, and were publicly marketed via multiple magazine articles, newspaper articles, and video interviews.

John was a teacher's assistance that held sessions outside of class to present material differently to students and help them problem solve physics.

John attended committee hearings, briefings, and caucuses in place of Legislative Analysts and then briefed the congressional staff on the importance and findings of each.

John edited heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, and general structural drawings to retrofit a gymnasium aboard a Navy ship in AutoCAD, while working alongside junior and senior engineers.

Harrisonburg, Va

John volunteered to work with a professor outside of class to convert a gasoline powered scooter to electric power. He designed and constructed battery holders, electrical components, and the cage in which the motor sat. The scooter went 35 mph.
