Provide oversight on the direction of Tacoma's only nonprofit cinema. Our mission is to enhance the cultural vitality of the community through the art of film. As a member of the marketing committee, I assist in marketing efforts and efforts to evangelize the Grand Cinema. The Grand Cinema brings important films to Tacoma and is one of the most visited cultural centers in the city.

As a Project Manager I worked on a number of projects at Glyph ranging from instructional translations to software translations. Some of my responsibilities included:• maintained project schedule• negotiating rates with translators and proofreaders• prepped documents for translation• tracked all documents associated with projects• communicated with clients about projects• addressed questions from translators and proofreaders• managed projects in many languages

The main purpose of desktop publishing in the translation industry is to make translated documents look good. English is a fairly compact language, so translations are often 20-30% longer and that extra length will disrupt the document layout. Some of the things I had to do as the Desktop Publishing Specialist:• font selection, both Latin and Cyrillic• image editing• document layout• file compatibility across different versions of software programs• final QA to make sure the document is ready for the client• software experience includes SDLX, Quark, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word
