Over a period of 11 years, I successfully introduced GRS’ fantastic range of footwear to over 650 new accounts - nearly tripling the turnover for the area.Additionally, In 2020, I was awarded “The Platinum Award” (Footwear Representative of the year), an award which was voted for online by retailers, at the Footwear Industry Awards.A physically demanding, yet extremely awarding role, this position involved communicating with decision makers on every level, from high level senior buyers at the likes of John Lewis and River Island, and large Garden Centre chains (inc Blue Diamond & Tillington Group) to small independent retailers.Due to the varied range of footwear, this role involved selling and promoting LUNAR, GRISPORT, Goodyear and Lazy Dogz footwear to Shoe Shops, Garden Centres, Independent Boutiques, Ladies Dress Shops, Equestrian, Outdoor shops, Country Stores and gift shops.I also conducted all my own marketing, along with arranging my own shows across the the south of England, attracting existing and new customers to view new ranges. The role was 24/7 remote and i regularly travelled across the south of England visiting customers, taking orders and cold calling.GRS Footwear (George Rye & Sons Ltd) has its roots deep in the heritage of the UK footwear industry, with the Company being originally established in 1880, over 140 years ago.

Working across several titles as a Journal Manager (Group Advertisement Manager).Researched and relaunched/redesigned Footwear Today Magazine in 2009. Then researched and launched the Footwear Industry Awards in 2012: designed to be a truly independent event in association with British Footwear Association (BFA), Independent Footwear Retailers Association (IFRA), Society of Shoe Fitters and Footwear Today. In 2010 researched and relaunched Sporting Goods Business (SGB) magazine, with a complete revision to design and editorial policy, following a comprehensive market survey.Also relaunched SGB Outdoor at the same time, but in digital format, again with a new editor and design. With Millet Sports, ran ActivInstinct, a unique magazine for the sports consumer, distributed to just over 250,000 readers.

I worked on TTJ (Timber Trades Journal). A fantastic vertical magazine, with old fashioned methodology.

This position involved using (and influencing) local media to increase positive perception of Kent Police in Medway.This experience gave me excellent experience in Press Release writing, with qualifications gained from Charter Institute of Public Relations: (CIPR). The position also gave me a more rounded experience of media, seeing magazines/press from the other side.

As one of the largest UK recycling and refuse bin producers (based in Blackpool), I was responsible for selling litter, dog and recycling bins - alongside a rather inventive range of planters.The role was my first 24/7 on the road sales position, tasked with selling the aforementioned bins to key decision makers within councils all over the South-East and Angila.Without doubt, this role was one of the most important in my career, and I still use, and value, many of the skills I learnt during this time...and I can still open a Neopolitan Plaza.

I was solely responsible for the creation of the new 'Property pages' with Kent Life and its new associated website.

Intially as a Trainee, this was my first publishing role - beginning on Kent Life, then moving to Surrey County and then launching Berkshire Life.In these early years, I owe (and still owe) a great deal to those who gave me the traditional publishing training.

Unsure why I have put this position on here, but I do think that it's important that people know I can use large cutting machinery, cut glass by hand, and also mix paint (not by computer!).I can also 'face forward' and flatten cardboard boxes.
