CurrentThe renewable and circular economy and importantly developing 'realistic and smart' strategies to successfully transition from a predominantly fossil based energy distribution to a sustainable, secure and accessible source of global energy is something that is hard to identify. Parties are generally far left or far right and unbiased opinions are difficult to uncover. With the subject of energy security, sustainability and accessibility generating such passionate (often on sided) debate, the strategies moving forward are more important than ever. Supporting this goal, hydrogen will play a key role (Size to be determined) both now and into the future, however as the 'unknown' energy source it is one who's infrastructure, knowledge and societal understanding requires significant growth trajectory to succeed. In support of this I have and continue to research the following topics; - Emerging Markets and Business Strategies - Global Opportunities and Related Development Strategies - Safe Development of Emerging Markets (Hydrogen) - Hydrogen Technologies - Brown (Coal) - Purple (Coal/Petcoke / with CCS) - Grey (Natural Gas) - Blue (Natural Gas with CCS) - Turquoise (Methane Pyrolysis with solid Carbon) - Pink (Nuclear) - Green (Electrolysis with Renewable Sources) - Other (Waste fuel input - Plasma Reactor Technology) Articles (Hydrogen)Micro-Meso-Macro Strategies of the Emerging Hydrogen Market (Published - Oxford)https://doi.org/10.1093/ce/zkab032

Senior Drilling Engineer
Senior Drilling Engineer - Rotational work looking after technically challenging HP and High flow sour gas wells for InterOil. During my time at Interoil I was a SDE in a team of 4 engineering rotational positions. Part of my role was to oversee completed work by the Junior Engineers as well as mentor their engineering development. The Engineering team at Interoil was a new experienced senior team brought in with the main aim of reducing the unproductive time, costs, and increasing HSE awareness and performance. During the time the team managed to reduce the costs and times to 30% below AFE as compared to wells that were often drilled over budget and slower than planned. The wells consisted of many technical aspects including MPD, H2S, extremely high gas production rates, fractured carbonate drilling with 100% losses, highly reactive shales and clay with a large tectonic influence requiring high mud weights, and drilling with casing. These technical solutions and equipment being utilised in an extremely remote and logistically difficult environment require high amounts of planning, organisation as well as being prepared (Having multiple contingencies planned).
Senior Drilling Engineer
Taking the opportunity to progress my career I had the opportunity to move into a growing company New Standard Energy. My position within New Standard involves progressing wells through the PDSW gates in all of New Standards assets. Including the Canning, Canarvon, Cooper basins. New Standard also has producing assets in the US to become familiar with.In the absence of a drilling manager and superintendent my role fluctuated greatly over a daily basis from developing operation budgets, contractor meetings, monthly reports, attending technical advisory boards, contractor management, HSE leadership roles, as well as the engineering, design and risk assessment of planning and operational activities.
Hpht Drilling Engineer
Recently I took on the challenge in relocating to Singapore as a HPHT Drilling Engineer. The job position is involves a vars amount of descriptions and varies greatly on a daily basis. The position involves both office work as well as on site supervision of activities and close bottom hole pressure monitoring. Office work varies greatly on a daily basis from writing drilling programs, auditing whole development and drilling programs, helping to solve production issues such as ashphaltenes and waxes, casing design as well as well integrity documents. Offshore site work relies on a strong presence which draws from previous supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of operational well control, bottom hole pressure monitoring as well as the use hydraulics software to model the fluid behavior down hole is paramount. Being able to communicate safe HPHT drilling practices, and make recommendations to the ongoing drilling program to ensure a safe and successfully drilled hole further builds on my strong communication skills as well as my knowledge and experience.
S. Drilling Engineer / Dsv (Png Operations)
This Job takes on both office and field work (Rotation). Currently I am working in the Talisman Brisbane office where I recently completed the Aiema-1 well as the lead drilling engineer. The well was completed following the PDSW process passing all gates as per Talisman procedure, generating all time and cost estimates, action trackers and updates, all government approvals, logistics plans, complete a planning schedule - keeping and maintaining dates, compiling and completing RAM, completion of the Drilling and Completions program as well as managing the engineering assurance review process including the DWOP and pre-spud.During drilling operations I act as the office point of call for operational related activities liaising with the drilling superintendent, subsurface and completion personal as and when required. Completing and managing all MOC and non-conformances, following up as required with all service companies to ensure all non-conformances were closed out and assurances put in place.Close monitoring of well performance and cost management to ensure the well meets budget and all target curves in a 100% safe and efficient manner. Following up with all operations for best practices, lessons learnt and peer after action reviews to ensure continuous improvement in future well operations and close out the well in a timely manner.Previously i worked as the NDSV for Talisman Energy and partners for wells drilled in the PNG area. Taking on a wide variety of responsibilities including supervising and maintaining a high level of safety throughout all mobilisation, drilling and completion activities, minimising flat time through clear and concise instructions and communication, logistics, maintaining efficient rig operations including drilling, casing, cementing, coring, logging etc... whilst minimising down time through utilising safe drilling practices.
Deepwater Drilling Engineer / Wellsite Engineer
I have completed work with Talisman as a Deepwater Drilling Engineer / WellSite Engineer on a multiple exploration deepwater (Semisub) well program in Vietnam.I completed 9 months work in Vietnam for the Talisman deep-water HT exploration campaign in the immediate area. In the capacity of a Drilling Engineer / Offshore Site Engineer for a 2 well exploration program utilizing a moored Semi (Deep Sea, High Temperature) off the coast of Vietnam. During offshore operations I lead numerous morning calls, HSE related meetings, completed onsite engineering calculations, maintaining clear communications with service hands and ensured all reporting documents were delivered to office personal on time.
Drilling Engineer / Supervisor
At Arrow Energy my current roles include. Completing drilling plans and cost estimates for both production and exploration wells in both Northern and Southern QLD as well as Balikpapan, Borneo.I have produced a somewhat automated well monitoring program making it easy to determine in-efficiencies in both sectional and contractor areas allowing for easy future reference as well as actively highlighting areas to improve which greatly reduces well time and costs.I am also involved in on-site supervision of wells in South and North QLD (Production, Frac wells, under-balanced, co-mingled) helping with supervision from spud to completion, QA, continuous monitoring and active improvement of drilling efficiency.
Engineer
I worked both in PNG for an extensive period and towards the end of my time with Halliburton I also gained experience in the North West Shelf for both Shell and Woodside. As I gained experience I became lead engineer and delt with problems relating to both the tools and logistics that are experienced only in remote areas such as PNG. PNG offers un-parallel geological experience being some of the most challenging areas to drill both explorational and production wells. I also gained offshore experience in working with Shell and Woodside. I worked as a mentor for trainee engineers as well as leading quad combos runs in a fast paced offshore environment.
Mwd / Lwd Engineer
Throughout my time with SLB i worked in Saudi Arabia and had schooling in all MWD tools including directional surveying tools. I had vast experience in and around Al Khoba both in the North and South as well as being involved in long reach projects, high temperature, H2S and I was also involved in first time operations of new MWD tools.
Engineer
I worked primarily on trouble shooting and helping to develop the initial development stages of OCS management software to assist Mark throughout the various commissioning stages of 2 GSF Jackup rigs. I was also involved throughout the commissioning at certain stages of the rigs contruction.
