Just before Christmas 2015, as Trustees, we were delighted to be honoured through receiving a "Services to Sport Award" on behalf of and in recognition of the new John Clemence Sports Centre's contribution to sport in Hertfordshire. The award was presented by John O'Callaghan Director of the Herts Sports Partnership. John Clements, a school teacher, was awarded the George Medal after sacrificing his own life to save 35 children in a hotel fire in Italy in 1976. Local sports facilities were built in his memory. The local community in Codicote, Hertfordshire, led by the project team, have raised funds to replace the now ageing facilities with a new £550k sports/community centre.
