A lifelong learner, my professional path continues to be dynamic and purposeful. I began as a CPA, transitioned from accounting to insurance and ultimately landed in financial services with Merrill Lynch. During my time at Merrill, as Head of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, I led the company’s shift into goals-based wealth management, focusing on client outcomes. I also had the opportunity to become a thought leader in the financial services industry. Devoted to mentoring and caring for the individuals on my teams and our clients, I cultivated a culture that fostered a powerful relationship of trust between clients and advisors. Out of concern for my colleagues’ stressful jobs, I aligned my leadership team and our resources to offer wellness programs addressing nutrition, mindfulness, and movement. I also pivoted our long-term commitment within the company of giving back, supporting hands-on service opportunities that created lasting connections between employees and communities. I stepped away from Merrill in 2018 and now leverage my financial acumen, cultural expertise, and problem-solving skills with a portfolio of executive engagements. As a Senior Advisor and Partner at My Next Season I support executives as they move into a meaningful retirement or new career chapter. I also assist the company in strategy, business development, and relationship building. Through the lens of my own experience, I guide clients through the range of emotions, challenges, and surprises that transition can bring while helping position them for purposeful next steps.Dedicated to the cause of eradicating cancer, I serve on the board of the V Foundation and chair the board of Don’t Ever Give Up, Inc. I am also deeply involved in increasing educational opportunities as a Trustee at my alma mater, Florida State University and as a member of FINRA’s Investor Education Foundation board, promoting initiatives focused on improving the financial literacy of underserved populations. Always aware of the importance of effective communication, I serve on the board of Decker Communications. My choices have led to the work I do today, and it all comes back to the Golden Rule and my mother’s wise words, “John, always do the right thing, every day.” So, every day, I work to fulfill my purpose: help others.
