Additionally, she collaborated with a local University to offer eight full four-year scholarships to seniors with at least 95 percent attendance, 2.5 GPA and 100 hours of community service and a commitment to offer the same scholarships to freshmen if they met the criteria for four straight years.
Clear Channel Radio partnered with Chicago Public Schools under Joi’s leadership to offer parents of eligible students the chance to win a car. Other prizes included monthly breakfasts hosted by top radio station, Rent or Mortgage paid up to $1,000 for students who had perfect attendance from September through November, family vacation to the Wisconsin Dells, Gift cards and more!
In addition to the incentives, Area Attendance Administrators worked closely under Joi's direction to implement strategies for improvement of low attendance.
Since the year Joi launched the back to school "Just Go" campaign, the percentage of students in school on the first day had gone up17 percent. A significant contribution for any program!
