In the spring of 2022, I interned for the American Junior Golf Association, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the development of young players who want to take their game to the next level. While with the AJGA I traveled throughout the U.S. running golf tournaments for 12-19 year old kids of all playing abilities, not only from a tournament operations side but from a marketing & digital media side. My weekly communications tasks included shooting general course, volunteer, staff, and player photography… Show more In the spring of 2022, I interned for the American Junior Golf Association, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the development of young players who want to take their game to the next level. While with the AJGA I traveled throughout the U.S. running golf tournaments for 12-19 year old kids of all playing abilities, not only from a tournament operations side but from a marketing & digital media side. My weekly communications tasks included shooting general course, volunteer, staff, and player photography with a Sony DSLR as well as capturing video of leader rounds to be later edited in Adobe Premiere Pro for YouTube content. I also conducted interviews, came up with new ideas for social media each week, and wrote pre and post tournament articles for the website. I had great success with my TikTok videos, and netted over 500,000 views and thousands of likes. I also used scheduling software to post on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. When not acting as primary communications intern for the weekend (I shared responsibilities with one other intern), I was helping with the tournament from a golf operations side and assisted with setting up tents, putting out coolers, aiding as an on-course rules official, and completing equipment surveys that are sent to our sponsors.
