I am Jolyon Dodgson, and I am passionate about agriculture and farmer engagement. I believe that excellent agriculture comes from excellent farmers. As an agriculturist, crop scientist and agronomist it is my responsibility to give farmers and growers all the latest information and research findings so they can produce food and manage the countryside in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way. Farmers and growers can no longer just rely on chemistry from the can; they need to adopt integrated crop management and take advantage of non-chemical control methods that are supplemented with a reduced use of chemical control; but, they cannot do this unless they have access to the best advice and the newest methods/products available.I have experience of managing my own business as well as conducting field and lab based agricultural research and working on a mixed farm. I have extensive knowledge of stakeholder engagement, project management and working internationally as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. I am course tutor for BSc Agronomy and MSc Integrated Crop Management degrees. I have gone from a farm labourer to gaining BSc, MSc and PhD degrees.My scientific background is in both field and laboratory based agricultural research where I have led stakeholder engagement and the communication of results. I have extensive communication skills, including writing yearly research reports and scientific papers.My business background comes from me developing my own online editing and proofreading business. I managed a range of freelancers who performed work for me.
