Since graduating with a degree in Theoretical Physics in 2012, I worked for 4 years as a research engineer at the AMRC. During this time I worked on a number of different projects and developed a variety of skills including CAD modelling, component design, metrology, data analysis, and presentation of results. I also attended formal training in lifting and slinging, large volume metrology, Spatial Analyser, Polyworks, CATIA, and ANSYS.While working at the AMRC I had the opportunity to explore many aspects of engineering research and I became very interested in modelling and simulation, including high precision metrology techniques and reverse engineering. In 2016 I started my PhD studying the mechanics of cilia beating. Since then I have been developing a fluid mechanics model to simulate a biological system. While studying I have learned to write code in CUDA to perform parallel simulations using a GPU. I have also learned to write Python scripts to process and analyse large amounts of data from my simulations.
