Jon advises the ExCo, Board and wider business of Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets PLC on enterprise-wide and business specific issues, leading a team based across London, Jersey, New York and previously Singapore.LBCM is the group of companies operating as the non-Ringfenced bank of Lloyds Banking Group providing commercial lending, trade & working capital management, bonds & structured finance and risk management products and services to commercial, large corporate and FI clients in the UK and internationally, and retail and commercial products and services to customers in the UK Crown dependencies.Previously, Jon headed up a Retail Legal team providing in-house legal support to LBG’s Business Banking, Wealth Banking and Commercial Cards businesses in the UK, Retail businesses in Germany and the Netherlands and retail and commercial businesses in the UK Crown Dependencies. It advised on CCA and non-CCA products. Jon’s team supported the Group’s participation in the (Coronavirus) Bounce Back Loan Scheme, through which LBG provided more than £1 billion of loans to businesses impacted by COVID-19 on the day it was launched, and £11 billion overall. He also led legal support for the Retail Bank on Brexit.Prior to that, Jon undertook several leadership roles as a Head of Legal in the Group’s Commercial Banking Legal team in London supporting UK and European lending (and restructuring), trade finance, receivables finance, corporate asset finance, equity and investments and strategic transactions across SME and Mid Corporates, Large Corporates, Financial Institutions, Specialist Debt Finance, Infrastructure & Energy Finance, Loan Markets and the Business Support Units.Jon advised in the context of the merger of HBOS and Lloyds TSB, Lloyds’ entry into the National Loan Guarantee and Funding for Lending Schemes, and the Housing Growth Partnership with Homes England. He also advised on the CB aspects of the sales of TSB and operations in Australia and Spain, and his team supported year on year net increases in lending to SMEs.Jon has extensive experience in legal procurement and worked with the Group’s Sourcing team on a number of Group-wide and Divisional panel processes.Prior to joining Lloyds, Jon worked in private practice law firms in Edinburgh and Sydney and he is qualified in Scotland, England & Wales and Australia.Jon is a trustee of the Bank of Scotland Foundation, one of the 4 charitable foundations funded by Lloyds Banking Group.Outside of Lloyds, Jon is a director on the Boards of Street Soccer Scotland and the Memusi Foundation.
