PADI (The Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is the largest diver training/trade associationin the world. I retired as senior RM serving 7 southeastern states for 20 years and 18 states (New England and the Mid-Atlantic) for 91/2 years prior. The job description was regional manager of sales and training. During the latter half of my tenure much emphasis was placed on business training for small business owners. I also worked with Boy Scouts, the US Navy, and archaeological projects in Bermuda, New Jersey, Virginia and Sweden. Wrote 3 books and had many photographs published in PADI materials.

Sandy Springs, Ga

A small dive center doing lots of travel serving the northern Atlanta area. SSD grew significantly leading to a job offer from PADI. This was a part time job while attending Columbia Theological Seminary.

Pensacola, Florida

Managed the design and construction of artificial reefs offshore of Pensacola. Supervised a crew of 20 CETA workers and prisoners. Helped fund the projects by writing grants and did all of the operation of and much of the maintenance on a converted LCM 8 (landing craft 80') with a 40 ton Hendry crane.

New Orleans, La

A small oil field service company specialized in precision steel cutting for the salvage of oil platforms, bridges and hurricane damage. Staffed by many former SEALS ESI customers included Shell Oil, Texaco, Gulf Oil, Chevron Oil and southern power companies. During this time I was also contract Dive Safety Officer on scientific projects including the BLM environmental impact study of the West Texas Flower Gardens and Mississippi river studies for The Southern Company.

Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Al

Helped create the first dive team at the Neutral Buoyancy Facility in NASA.Developed preliminary test protocols for orbital maintenance tasks in preparation for astronaut training.Trained in hyperbaric medicine and chamber operations, Apollo flight suit modifications and use for diving and development and use of various hydraulic and pneumatic tools for EVA use. Was lured away by the possibilities of greater earning potential as an oil field diver after completing commercial diving school.
