I enjoy working with graduate students in the School of Education to help them develop their skills in educational measurement, assessment and analysis.

Created and developed the Health & Wellness Division as a “spinoff” of the Student Services Division in order to increase focus and support for student social-emotional learning, as well as their mental and physical health supports. During COVID-19, served as district coordinator for Health & Safety Protocols and primary liaison with the Delaware Division of Public Health. Responsible for district-level supervision and leadership for School Counselors, School Nurses, School Social Workers, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coaches and the district Attendance Team.

Primary district office administrator responsible for maintaining compliance with all aspects of the IDEA and Delaware Code related to the provision of services for students with disabilities served by the IDEA. Particular emphasis on providing supervision and support for special in-district programs for students who have exceptional educational needs. Responsible for providing professional development to district and building-level administrators on all aspects of providing services to students with disabilities. Responsible for the supervision and professional development of student services professional staff, including student services coordinators, special education coordinators, school counselors, school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and school nurses. Primary district office administrator responsible for maintaining compliance with all aspects of section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and Supportive Instruction (Homebound Education) as defined in the Delaware Code.

Courses taught are listed below:· EDUC 830 (Consultation and Intervention)· EDUC 830 is a doctoral-level course on school-based consultation and intervention designed to teach school psychologists and school counselors the major approaches to providing collaborative consultation in a school setting.· EDUC 817 (Individual Intelligence Testing)· EDUC 817 is a doctoral-level course designed to train school psychologists to administer, score and interpret major tests of cognitive ability and develop and explain the cognitive aspects of psychological reports.· EDUC 813 (Childhood Psychopathology)· EDUC 813 is a doctoral-level course designed to introduce students to theory and research on psychological and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescence. To support students’ development as scholars and reflective practitioners, the emphasis of the course is on reading and understanding the research into the pathways by which psychopathology develops as well as understanding empirically supported treatment strategies.· EDUC 680 (Educational Diagnosis) Informal and standardized measures are discussed and administered. Students are trained to be effective participants on a child study team and to administer a diagnostic-prescriptive protocol. Students are expected to interpret results from a placement protocol and to make recommendations for appropriate educational placement.· EDUC 607 (Educational Research)An introduction to quantitative methods and procedures in education through the study of the logic and procedures of educational and social research. Provides information about the various stages of the research process with attention on measurement, sampling, design, data analysis and application.

Responsible for providing psychoeducational assessment, individual counseling and collaborative behavioral consultation for students in a variety of settings from ages 3 – 21. Experience in general and special education early childhood, elementary, middle and high school settings. Principal AssignmentJohn G. Leach School Leach School is a specialized placement for students aged 3 – 21 who have moderate to severe educational disabilities. Services in this setting (psychoeducational assessment, behavioral consultation, family support) are typically collaborative in nature and involve consultation with school-based specialists in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, assistive technology and consultative services for the visually-impaired. There is also significant collaboration with community specialists in pediatrics, neurology, psychology, orthopaedics and social work.

Conducted psychoeducational assessment and consultation for children with significant behavioral difficulties at the middle and high school level. Co-coordinated and co-conducted daily group counseling classes on social problem solving and decision-making skills. Provided individual counseling, including anger management and supportive therapy for management of significant mental illness. Participated in a behavior management team in the areas of conflict management and school discipline.

Conducted psychological assessment and family-centered supportive therapy for children from birth to age 7 years on an in-patient and outpatient basis. Areas of specialization include developmental assessment of infants and toddlers, behavioral feeding assessment and therapy, and psychosocial assessment. Participated in team assessments with specialists in the areas of developmental medicine and communicative disorders. Conducted therapy in conjunction with specialists in gastroenterology, genetics and hematology/oncology. Provided assessment, educational support and/or therapy for special needs populations, including children with Down Syndrome, significant developmental delay, congenital heart defect and pervasive developmental disorder.
