I have had almost 2 score years of experience as an environmental and earth educator and trainer. My passion is helping others 'get in touch' with the natural world through dynamic learning programmes and hand-on learning experiences. Much of my 'play' is through story and creative work as well as "earth education". I have been part of the Institute for Earth Education for over 30 years and a trainer for 20. For many years global learning has underpinned my education work, working particularly with Teachers In Development Education (TIDE). In the last 20 years I have got enmeshed with Forest School as chair the Forest School Trainers Network GB, the inaugural chair of the UK professional association and governing body - the Forest School Association (FSA) and currently a director of the FSA . Forest School has given me an excellent opportunity to combine my passion for woodland (I started my adult life in conservation managing the beautiful ash wood in Lathkill Dale NNR in Derbyshire), story, play and learner 'owned' learning.Since moving on from working with local authorities for 38 years I now work in deepening nature connection and exploring the therapeutic nature of nature based learning. I run a variety of long term and day training courses as well as continuing to support local Forest School settings and working with young people who are challenged by our education system.I also love canoeing - particularly in hot places like the Ardeche - where I relish spending reflection time and roof repairing time in the old petit maison (see photo!) Goals - to help others know themselves and their innate potential while realising their fundamental connections with the natural world.
