I create contemporary, innovative large scale projects and place-based programmes that enable bold and inclusive storytelling. I have delivered extraordinary projects for the UK’s most significant cultural events from the London 2012 Festival, 14-18 NOW, Coventry UK City of Culture and UNBOXED. I enjoy developing art, organisations and places, working with individuals and communities. I believe in taking risks and the potential of everyone. In April 2023 I took up the role of Director of Cement Fields where I am responsible for the artistic and strategic leadership of the organisation, supporting and realising exceptional projects with artists and communities in North Kent, attracting, engaging and inspiring a wide range of participants and audiences. My work centres around a commitment to genuine co-creation, collaboration, and a curiosity to understand a place/context, responding to important social and political issues to create real change through art and culture. If you take a look my roles below and the projects and programmes I’ve produced on my website you'll get a sense of my work, from large scale celebratory festivals to intimate installations.https://jondldavis.wordpress.com/

Senior ProducerCoventry City Of Culture Trust Apr 2019 - Jun 2022Coventry, United KingdomFrom 2019 - 2022 I was the Senior Producer for the Dynamic City team. I was responsible for initiating and designing an exemplary culture programme, delivering and overseeing the year’s major events. Leading the Dynamic City team my role extended to supporting the four curators and programme managers delivering the Trust’s Digital, Public Realm, Environment and Young People and Education programmes. For Coventry – the third holder of the UK City of Culture title – we adopted a unique approach of putting ‘co-creation’ at the centre of its programme, valuing local stories and the latent creativity across the city. This deeply rooted way of working, recently presented as ‘The Coventry Model’, delivered a range of both intimate events and high impact activities to deliver long-lasting social value. This approach is now seen as a significant shifting point in the way in which major cultural programmes can be delivered. Embedding engagement at a hyper-local level, the ‘co-creation’ approach has seen city communities including faith groups, community centres, libraries, schools, community radio stations, the police, and local arts organisations take centre stage in designing the creative programme. -
