Civil Enforcement Officer

Stratford On Avon

I worked as a Civil Enforcement Officer in Stratford-Upon-Avon, under thelegislation Traffic Management Act 2004. This role is more commonly known as theTraffic Warden but under the above legislation, Traffic Wardens were replaced byCivil Enforcement Officers in an act of decriminalizing parking services. In this job, I had to do a one week training course to qualify and achieve my CEOcertificate to allow me to issue penalty charge notices to vehicles that contravene tothe traffic orders. On a day to day basis, I would patrol independently on the streets and thecouncil car parks of Stratford and other districts within the Warwickshire County. I was in high visibility uniform to show the general public that I represented the counciland that I am approachable for any questions or queries regarding the surroundingarea or any other question they may have. I was responsible for issuing vehicles withpenalties if they are in contravention, maintaining the Pay On Foot and Pay AndDisplay machines, contacting the Town Hall if any on streets maintenance or hazardsneed seeing too, working side by side with local authorities mainly Police, assistingtourists with local attractions and many more small roles that made my job a prioritywithin the council. To make sure that I was performing well and to an acceptable standard each month, Iwas given my personal stats which were monitored from my Handheld Computer that I wouldcarry when out patrolling. This is something that I appreciate as it is a way ofunderstanding where I needed improving, in a way I like the idea of constructivecriticism or appraising that may come from the statistics.

Security Officer

Redditch

I worked as part of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre’s security team and did since June 2011till July 2012. My job role was classed as a Security Officer which involved a high amountand standard of customer service, customer complaints and enquiries, physical intervention, first aid assisting, crowd management, assisting and working with emergency services, healthand safety awareness and constant and reliable communication.A security officer is a very demanding job, always on the move and on your feet whilst takinga great consideration in different aspects of awareness and your surroundings, but thechallenge is something that I admire and strive to tackle and perfect in every shift. As a resultof this, I have become a very alert and active person. As the job specification is mainlycustomer based and direct with the general public, I have increased my people skills, customer service and maturity to a very high standard. On numerous occasions I have found myself in situations that involve aggressive, abusive anddangerous circumstances, even with persons with the intent to harm. On every occasion Ihave dealt with the problem quickly, smartly but most importantly in a controlled manner andprofessionally, which is always my main aim. As a result of my problem solving, I have beencredited by my employers and by the general public on a number of occasions.

Duty Manager

Apollo Cinemas Ltd

Redditch

I worked at Apollo Cinemas for 5 years, starting March 2007. My job role was titled Chief OfStaff, which varied between supervisory roles and management. At the age of 20, I wasmanaging up to 12 members of staff a shift within the multi-million pound complex. As ChiefOf Staff I had a number of responsibilities to adhere too, such as to ensure the staff werealways busy, dealing with customer complaints and enquiries, staff morale, stock audit, end ofnight and end of week paperwork, marketing, health and safety, daily operations within thecinema and the everyday managerial tasks. My proudest moments working there would be setting up the Children’s parties’ scheme andalso working my way up from a sales assistant/front of house member of staff to beingpromoted into the management team for my hard work and commitment to the job. TheChildren’s parties was something that I thought of and put into practice on my own, and it isstill used to this day which can make a nice profit from at least £100 a party or a lot moredepending on the party size. As mentioned above, at the age of 20 I was handed my first set ofkeys to the cinema after working my way up the ranks, since the age of 17. I was managingup to 12 members of staff per shift on an average of two to four times a week, leading firedrills each month, tutoring and monitoring the employees making sure their level of work wasto an excellent standard as expected. In return, the staff found me a trustworthy andapproachable member of the management team which I found very rewarding at such a youngage.
