Perform services such as: application of restraints, maintaining daily inventory of restraints, and assisting in detainee meal distribution. Responsible for securing detainees while boarding, being transported, and disembarking from vehicles and aircraft. Assist in the securing and processing of detainees in the cellblock, courtroom, and during judicial proceedings. Assist in the securing and transportation of detainees to and from medical appointments, or while hospitalized for medical treatment. Assist with pre-check of emergency and evacuation equipment. Assist with monitoring of detainee needs, handling of detainee property, and detainee searches. Provide security within the USMS district office cellblock, including monitoring security equipment and patrolling the areas adjacent to the cellblock. Search and secure the cellblock and secure seized assets as specified by the USMS.

Assist in supervising the movement of prisoners to/from work assignments, meals, recreation and housing units/dormitories.Supervise prisoner work details.Perform booking of prisoners upon remand.Operate security control room.Assist with maintaining order and discipline; learn and apply techniques of handling unruly and violent prisoners, using minimum force necessary in resolving situations.Conduct routine security checks and inspections, inspect prisoner quarters and conduct prisoner counts.Assist in creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to the rehabilitation of prisoners.Utilize emergency respiratory equipment (gas mask, forced air respirators) during emergencies.Assist in the prevention of escapes.Observe and record prisoner behavior.Prepare oral and written reports.Responsible for training DOC employees on departmental policy and procedure through our various academies and in-service trainings. In addition to key specialty training, most notably instructor development classes to prepare the network of instructors who perform most of the department's in-service training. The goal of the Training Academy staff is to assist our Officers to achieve successful skills to accomplish the mission of our department. In regards to support staff and administrative personnel, who are critically important to the everyday running of the department, it is also our goal to provide current and relevant training through "Support Staff" training programs.

Responsible for providing training in Use of Force, Control Tactics, Handcuffing, Oleoresin Capsicum, Baton, defensive tools and martial arts. In addition to providing key specialty training, most notably instructor development classes to prepare the network of instructors who instruct the One On One Control Tactics system throughout the world.
