Balanced the needs of multiple college’s data and reporting requirements whilst implementing efficiencies, streamlined processes and economies of scale. Managed two teams; a data returns team responsible for collating, validating and submitting student records and qualifications to various government agencies. A development team who were responsible for administering student record systems, creating websites and applications as per agreed specifications using ASP.net, MVC, C#, CSS. The development team were also responsible for providing various reporting services (using SSRS, MS Report Builder, Crystal Reports) and responding to ad hoc queries as and when requested.

Directly liaised with middle management stakeholders to help them understand their student data (Numbers, Funding, Success). I worked with them to maximise revenue streams and plan their curriculum setup for future academic years. This role really helped me to develop my ability to convey complex data sets and methodologies in simple terms to those not familiar with them. It gave me a greater insight into the needs of the end-user and I now ensure that this is the main focus in any reporting or development work I undertake.

This role required me to collate all of the student data from the student record system, and then validate the data against set government rules and schemes. The role involved a lot of data manipulation into the data to find and investigate possible errors and work with the correct departments to resolve them. It also involved a lot of proactive work to identify potential future errors and correct them before they happened, updating processes to improve the quality of data and reduce failure demand.

This role really helped me start to develop my IT technical expertise and progress from an advanced user of MS Office products (Word, Excel etc..) to a fully-fledged database developer and report writer. I designed and created various databases, used report building software and implemented detailed MI reporting to college management.
