My name is Jon Fellowes, and I’ve worked as a freelance writer since leaving university.Since graduating in 2014, my words have been read (or heard!) by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people. I’ve had the privilege of working on many different projects, from writing blogs and paid advertising for large corporate clients to writing scripts for major theatre productions that tour the world.As a journalist (with formal training in IPSO media standards), I regularly write about politics, culture, music, and film/TV.I’ve always believed that the key to writing good content is just like the key to writing a good song – if you make it relatable, interesting, and engaging, then your audience will take care of the rest.

In 2018, I was approached by a renowned singer-songwriter to collaborate on his new stage production in tribute to the legendary musician, Paul Simon. Although I was originally intended to work predominantly on the musical direction, my role was rapidly expanded to include the script's co-writing, assisting with the production/direction of the show and other vital tasks.This swiftly led to me being made a partner in the business, which completed a month-long run at the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a two-week residency in New York City, USA, and extensive touring of mainland UK and Northern Ireland.Our subsequent production, Something About George - The George Harrison Story, recently completed a 13-date tour in celebration of what would have been George Harrison's 80th birthday, which featured a special 1700-capacity sold-out show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

Initially beginning as a freelance content writer, predominantly responsible for advice articles, blogging and SEO, I was swiftly given the additional responsibility of representing the company in press enquiries, negotiating advertising deals and contributing to various guest publications on the companies’ behalf. In this role, I’ve written hundreds of thousands of words for publications worldwide. I’ve also been tasked with carrying out surveys and research on social media.

As a General News Reporter, I was tasked with writing up stories, pitching and following up exclusives, interviews, and many more journalistic roles. While I was honoured to be offered a full-time role, other commitments meant I was unable to accept.

As an SEO Journalist, my day begins by looking into what is trending online and the stories currently in the national news. I’ll then participate in the morning newsroom meeting where stories are pitched and discussed. After that, my primary responsibility is to research and write clean, engaging and SEO-friendly copy on various subjects (including current affairs, politics, TV/Film and more), then formatting the piece on the Reach CMS and filing.My bylines include Manchester Evening News, MyLondon, BirminghamLive, Liverpool Echo, ChronicleLive, Wales Online, BristolLive and many others.

Jon Fellowes is a Northwest-based musician, producer, writer, and journalist.After graduating with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Popular Music Performance from the University of Chester in 2014, he worked as a professional musician for several years. Jon's notable credits include performing alongside Peter "Wolfman" Wolfe (writer of the #7 charting hit "For Lovers" ft Pete Doherty), recording with Herman's Hermits founding member Keith Hopwood, and working alongside Pete Thomas (drummer for Elvis Costello, Bonnie Rait and Sheryl Crow). Jon has also worked internationally, touring in Brazil, recording in the south of France, as well as playing live across the UK.Jon has also worked in music development and production, as well as in music education, at several establishments, including charity-ran music projects and universities. He has also served as a Content Creator/Press Liaison for the entertainment directory service Last Minute Musicians since 2015.As a co-producer with Something About Productions, Jon co-wrote the script for the company's first show, "Something About Simon – The Paul Simon Story" and joined the production in touring across the UK, as well as for performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and off-Broadway in New York City, USA. He subsequently went on to write the script for the company's follow-up show, "Something About George – The George Harrison Story", and toured as part of the band with the production in 2022.
