About Jon George

I help small software development teams achieve impressionable outcomes. I thrive in a role that intersects technology, strategy, and leadership, and am a champion for creating an environment where the team can do their best work. I am comfortable working under pressure with tight timelines, rapid prototyping/development, ambiguous requirements, compliance/policy constraints, security constraints, resource constraints etc., and I always figure out a way to plan, execute, and deliver the most value.- Build today with tomorrow in mind.- Make it work then make it neat.- Keep it simple.- Don't try to mop the ocean.- Write code for your future self. These pillars have been highly influential in my strategies to deliver and maintain 10+ high value software products touching close to 9 million people in the last 10 years.

Technical lead on a project to create "Official Use Only" (OUO) labels across the ServiceNow platform. We created mechanisms for generating, displaying, printing and managing OUO labels in ServiceNow NativeUI forms (tasks, catalog items etc.) and portal widgets used across the organization's multiple portals. OUO labels were created based on the specs, design and guidance provided by the Department of Energy. The feature included dynamic record-based FOIA exemptions and titles of classification.I conducted dozens of code reviews and provided feedback based on best practices for other in-flight projects on the platform during this three-month contract.
  • Caci International Inc
    Solutions Architect (Servicenow)
Caci International Inc Sep 2021 - Mar 2022
    Reston, Virginia, Us
Subject matter expert and lead author for CACI's multi-billion dollar Air Force EITaaS Wave 1 proposal, awarded August 2022. The content included details of the architecture for the ServiceNow platform, its integrations, and apps, development and deployment processes and a break down of roles required for the work. I also demonstrated possibilities of automation, AI and machine learning in subsequent BPA orders based on this BPA. I authored key proposal content that supported the technical design and weaved it into other parts of the proposal such as ITSM, BYOAD, and CMDB, to name a few. My role involved understanding the RFP, RFQs, and RFIs, understanding CACI's capture management and business development processes, understanding the previously implemented EITaaS risk reduction effort, learning relevant parts of the DAF's IT processes/procedures, and working with our partners to generate a solution that satisfied the RFP.Lead architect and technical supervisor of a team of in-house engineers to research, design, architect, develop, and maintain repeatable components used by project teams across the organization. We created a library of components that provide solutions to common problems. These reusable components include integrations between Splunk, Azure, and AWS, and development tools for the ServiceNow platform. I lead the research for this effort, reaching out and interfacing with dozens of project teams across the organization to gather data. With the help of a teammate, I led biweekly collaborative workshops, conducted polls, interviews, and surveys with project teams. I created and presented road maps that align with the objectives of my business line and ensured that the team's daily tasks aligned with our road map. I delivered live demonstrations of new features, capability briefings to leadership, quick reference guides, development documentation, and produced many 1-2 minute video recordings depicting how project teams could use each new capability.

Lead engineer for the NIH COVID-19 Biorepository to track COVID-19 specimens and their associated research studies for scientists within the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG). In March 2020, I was responsible for developing this custom portal with an AngularJS interface to handle the submission of Intramural Research Program studies approved by the Institutional Review Board. The portal also includes a beautiful interface (designed by my colleague, Sree) for handling approvals. Lastly, in an effort to make COVID-19 specimen data available to the twenty thousand NIH employees, we created dashboards within ServiceNow and exposed them via the portal.Lead engineer on FISMA ATO Streamlining Tool (FAST). Through a combination of automation and process streamlining, this internal application decreased the time it takes to complete an ATO by ~82% (from 3+ months to about 2 weeks). As the lead developer I worked with our Business Analyst, Project Manager, and customers to determine potential areas for automation and process improvement. This project includes a user-friendly AngularJS-based interface where system owners (end-users) can review and update ATO packages for their systems. Security advisors interact with system owners and update data through ServiceNow. The Security Officer reviews ATO packages and issues a memo based on their determination.Lead engineer on the Biomedical Specimen Tracker (BST) to track diabetes specimens.
