Jon brings over a decade of experience in communications to his role as the Communications Director for Rochester Schools. In this position, he leverages his extensive background in journalism to elevate the district's communication strategies, making Rochester Schools a leader in school communications across Central Illinois. His expertise in storytelling, media relations, and content creation has enhanced transparency, strengthened community engagement, and showcased the district’s achievements in innovative ways.In his first year with Rochester Schools, Jon’s innovative work has earned him nominations for several prestigious awards, including SchoolCEO’s Excellence in School Marketing and the Achievement Acknowledgment Program through the USA Education Conference. These accolades underscore his success in crafting impactful communication strategies that resonate with both local and national audiences.Previously, Jon served as an evening news anchor and investigative reporter for several broadcast news outlets in Texas and Illinois. His years in journalism honed his skills in video production, social media marketing, and public relations, all of which have contributed to his success in building a comprehensive communications program at Rochester Schools.Jon holds a certification in Content Creation: Strategy and Tools from LinkedIn, highlighting his proficiency in crafting compelling narratives that connect with diverse audiences. Outside of work, Jon volunteers as a bishop at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he mentors and supports his congregation. A father of six, Jon draws daily inspiration from his family, who fuel his passion for education and public service.
