My key responsibilities are as follows: -To ensure the Executive Committee and Senior Management are briefed on all aspects of health, safety, security and environmental management that may have a significant impact on the Company’s operations. To initiate proposals on strategy and policy for Exec approval. To devise, implement, audit and review systems, procedures, documentation and training programmes for the delivery of agreed policy.To continually improve health, safety & environmental performance and maintain the Company’s excellent reputation in this field. To effectively manage the Group HSE Department and provide a comprehensive service to 5 manufacturing sites, 4 warehouses, over 100 retail outlets and a number of satellite sales offices, employing approx. 3,600 people, around the world. To be the primary contact for the Company’s insurers and enforcing authorities. To oversee Group expenditure on health, safety, security and the environment.

During my employment with Wedgwood, I was responsible for all health, safety and environmental affairs throughout UK operations. In particular, I was responsible for implementing an in-house HSE management system within UK manufacturing, warehousing and retail operations.

My career began with Johnson Matthey within the Environmental Control Department, at its Colours & Print Division in Stoke-on-Trent. I collected samples and analysed them for environmental pollutants. As my career progressed I became more involved in health, safety and environmental management. Before leaving the company I became responsible for all the company’s environmental affairs.
