After excelling as Change Manager for a year I was asked to move into Operations. This role was originally quite diverse for the first 1.5 years. The role consisted of a combination of 3rd line support, NOC engineer, assisting deployment of hardware and software to our cloud platform.Since the start of 2018, I have been specializing to project deployments only, assisting in 2 oversea datacenter deployments, with a third and fourth this year. I am also part of our companies initiative to adopt containerization in as many areas as possible, to reap the benefits of CI/CD deployments and reducing time to resolution.

I was headhunted internally for the role of Change Manager due to my depth of knowledge of our diverse cloud platform, my diligence in following the current change process, and my interpersonal skills to lead weekly change advisory board meetings.Typical duties include:- Reviewing all changes on the platform, checking that the scope of the works, testing, and rollback procedures were detailed so that any impact to the platform was reduced as much as possible.- I was the leader of internal and external weekly change advisory board meetings, giving a high-level overview of all changes that were taking place the following week, along with explaining why certain changes failed.- I was instrumental in reducing failed changes, implementing better change procedure, and making sure the right questions where always asked and answered on high profile changes to our cloud platform.

The main aspect of this role was to help provide excellent customer facing 1st and 2nd line support for high-value customers, helping pinpoint issues when the customer may have not been very technical.Typical duties included:- Analyzing call data records, application logs, and system performance logs to assist third line support engineers and software engineers in understanding potential causes for any issues/bugs that arise- Writing clear and concise tickets for every customer-facing call I received, allowing other support engineers to easily pick up the investigation as quickly as possible.- Lead speaker on weekly customer calls to walk them through current open ticket and next lines of investigation. Biggest achievement: Instigating and completing a complete web server refresh project, increasing the resiliency and reliability of all of our entire web estate, thus drastically reducing the number of tickets potentially raised.
