Lead a team of engineers to configure COTS serial-to-lan converters and measure data latency. Designed application used to measure latency and produce results in tabular format. Created application for production personnel to use when testing newly produced RS2F converter units.Lead Software Engineer on TCDL PGCS program. Led a team of engineers to design and build a Portable Ground Control Station used to command and control a TCDL Shadow 200 Air Vehicle using the STANAG 4586 protocol. Designed and implemented applications to test for system HW failures and notify the user. Integrated and tested 3rd Party software products. Created all software related drawings needed for production and taught production personnel how to setup and install software on the system components.Lead Software Engineer on the UDIB-SM program. Lead Software Engineer (5 yrs.) on the FAA’s ACE-IDS (ASOS Controller Equipment – Integrated Display System) program. ACE – IDS is a LAN/WAN based integrated display system designed to interface to various airport systems and display received data in Air Traffic Control Towers and TRACONs. Led a team of 4 software engineers to develop a Remote Maintenance Monitoring & Configuration program suite to control a third-party integrated display system. Our team developed numerous TCP/IP based client/server applications used to configure, control and maintain the remote display clients as well as the network hardware (switches and routers). A client application was written to display the current health of all network hardware, servers and workstations. Automatic software and hardware redundancy was built in to ensure 24/7 operation. Was involved in complete system architecture design and configuration. Initial system was Windows NT Workstation/Server based and has been ported over to Windows XP and 2003 Server. Our object-oriented design approach has made it easy to add new network hardware to the system as older hardware became obsolete. Implemented a firewall using a Cisco router to allow non-FAA facilities at the airport connectivity to the system. Was the customer liaison for all engineering issues and successfully led efforts to get the system FAA certified.Led a team of 4 software engineers to design and implement a new JAVA based integrated data display system (StormFront). This client/server based display system allows users to create custom graphical pages that dynamically display current and past weather data. These pages can contain custom text, graphics, graphs and tables. This system has numerous external interface capabilities and the system’s object-oriented design makes adding new interfaces trivial. System configuration is controlled via XML files which allows for easy customization to suit the customer’s needs

Software Engineer on the ASOS (Automated Surface Observing System) program. ASOS is a HP UNIX based weather system used to gather, process and display weather data from a variety of sensors. Involved in all areas of software development, testing and trouble report analysis. Identified and fixed numerous trouble reports in the areas of weather algorithms, external interfaces and data display. Was part of the effort to get the system accepted through the government test cycle and certification process.Software Engineer on the NEXWOS (Next Generation Weather Observing System) program. NEXWOS is a real-time QNX based weather system whose code base was ported from the ASOS software. Added several new sensor packages to the system. These included pressure, wind, temperature and a 25K ceilometer. Fixed numerous other trouble reports as they were assigned.Joined the ACE (ASOS Controller Equipment) program. ACE was a networked display system designed to display ASOS weather system data in FAA Air Traffic Control towers. Was part of a team that ported the existing system code from Windows 3.1 to Windows NT. Responsible for moving the code into a new source code control system (CCC Manager) and maintaining the STR (System Trouble Report) database. Participated in the installation and Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) of the redesigned system.Designed and implemented various applications as part of a Water Quality Monitoring System (AquaWatch). Wrote a Windows NT GUI based program that allowed for the building of the configuration file used to configure a ZENO data logger. This file contained information pertaining to I/O channel assignments of the various sensors, polling intervals and other related parameters. Also wrote a Windows NT based GUI application that was used to display the current and archived sensor data in textual and graphical format.
