Lieutenant Jon Plummer began his career with the San Bernardino Police Department in 2005, leveraging his prior experience as a police explorer. Throughout his journey, Jon has taken on various roles within the departmentStarting as a Patrol Officer, Jon quickly demonstrated skills and commitment, leading to assignments as a District Resource Officer and an Operation Phoenix Officer. His performance and strong work ethic earned him the opportunity to serve as a Parole Coordinator and a Gang Enforcement Officer. Jon played a pivotal part in maintaining community safety and effectively reducing criminal activity.In December 2017, Jon's performance resulted in a promotion to the position of Detective/Corporal. As a Detective/Corporal, he gained invaluable experience in various positions, including serving as a Field Training Officer in the patrol division. His investigative skills and dedication to justice led him to be assigned as a Specialized Crime Detective for over a year before transferring to the Homicide Unit.In the Homicide Unit, Jon's sharp intellect and innovative thinking proved to be instrumental in solving major investigations. Recognizing his outstanding contributions, Jon was further promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May 2020.Since his promotion, Jon has excelled in his leadership roles, taking on various assignments within the department. As a Patrol Supervisor, he has managed and guided officers in maintaining public safety. Additionally, as the Field Training Program Supervisor, Jon has played a vital role in shaping the next generation of law enforcement. Moreover, as the Western District Operation Supervisor, he oversaw operations and ensures efficient resource allocation.Jon was selected as the Homicide Sergeant, where he lead investigations and provided invaluable guidance to his team. In August of 2024, Jon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He is currently the Northern District Commander and oversees the Traffic Unit, Commerical Enforcement, Parking Enforcement, Field Training Officer program, and the C.O.A.S.T. Program. Outside of his professional duties, Jon was actively engaged with the San Bernardino Police Officers' Association (SBPOA). His leadership abilities and dedication to the welfare of his fellow officers have been recognized, as he was elected as the President of the association in January 2022. His re-election in 2024 for a second term as president highlights the trust and confidence his colleagues have in his exceptional leadership. He vacated that role upon his promotion to Lieutenant.
