Create models to predict maternal-fetal health outcomes, with the aim of providing actionable information for clinicians.

Worked to dissect the mechanism of subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN DBS) in a mouse model of Parkinson’s Disease. Constructed multiple ephysiology tools, including a novel stimulating implant and a motorized commutator that allows for simultaneous optical and electrical stimulation and recording. Discovered novel therapeutic parameter space for STN DBS and used artifact-free cell-specific fiber photometry to elucidate effect of STN DBS on basal ganglia nuclei.

Worked with the engineering team to develop deep learning models that would streamline the workflow for clinical radiologists. Had an active role in programming (Python), prototyping, and implementation.

Studied the neural circuitry of anger, using the fruit fly as a biological model. As part of this, worked with the Perona lab to develop a machine-learning algorithm to track fly behavior (non-programming role).

Studied learning and memory in the turtle cortex. Developed computer vision algorithm for tracking angle of turtle’s head during behavioral experimentation and expanded experimental methodology.
