I process the check run everyday using Microsoft Great Plains. I also assist processing accounts payable using Excel spreadsheets and am familiar with various functions including sum ifs and v lookup.

I have been with Gannett/Lansing State Journal for 21 years. I worked as a part time cashier from 1996-2003. I was hired full time in mid-2003 as an accounting clerk. My duties at the time included balancing the ad measurements in the newspaper and entering advertising information into our Genesys system. My duties changed in late 2008 to more of an accounts payable focus. My duties included paying carriers for the Central Michigan locations (Battle Creek, Lansing, Port Huron) as well making sure all invoices were paid. I also gained experience in Microsoft Excel during this time. I began assisting Detroit newspapers in March 2016 in the same capacity.However in Feb. 2017 I was told my job was being eliminated due to a reduction in force. I was rehired in March 2017 in a different capacity and my new job title is Accounting Specialist.I work with the Gannett locations in Brevard, Florida, and Montgomery, Alabama. My new duties include:• Support the circulation department in day end and billing report review• Circulation adjustment processing including review for proper GL coding and backup• Fields questions from the circulation department as needed• Resolves AAM volume statistics reporting errors as needed• Processes scan adjustments weekly• Audits carrier contracts monthly• Carrier payment review and submission• Subscriber refund review and submission• Monitors aging reports (subscriber and circulation)• Meets with circulation department monthly regarding aging issues• Liaison to the Credit and Collections Center• Audits returns in accordance with GPS suggested guidelines• Assists in resolving customer accounting issues or complaints• Ensures standard circulation procedures are followed including adherence to the F/ARM and SOX requirements• Develops relationships and provides support to the Regional Circulation AR Supervisor and business unit personnel• Active participation during internal audits• May assist in month end close process

I process payments for our carriers on a weekly basis. I also handle accounts payable making sure our invoices are paid on time. I also handle accruals on a monthly basis. I process credit card payments on the accounts receivable side.
