Following on from the industrial research role, I applied inspection solutions and technology to structures for industry, with an increasing breath responsibilities for the sector and also wider Mistras business over a 15 year period.Structural Health Monitoring system technical design for suspension bridges, post tension concrete structures (bridges and buildings), steel and concrete structures, including the processing of data and its presentation in a variety of mediums.Document development from tender to method statement/procedure site installation and project management for individual projects <£3M, including as Principle Contractor under CDM.Carried out business development supporting civil engineers across UK and worldwide (inc. Europe, Middle East, Asia, Scandinavia and USA).Also continuation of academic research with UK Universities (supervising PhD's and other post grads) and research establishments. Member of several SHM working groups. Writing and publishing of technical papers journals and conferences.Additionally was UK QHSE manager from 2004 to 2012, running the ISO9001 quality system and taking the lead on safety management.

Two year MPhil under Teaching Company Scheme (TCS) for Cardiff University working in industry with Physical Acoustics Limited (now Mistras). Research engineer developing acoustic emission condition monitoring systems and procedures for steel bridges. Laboratory fatigue testing. Data analysis. Site trials of innovative monitoring. Preparation for commercialisation of research testing. The project was Awarded Royal Society’s Award for Engineering Excellence 2001 at the Institution of Civil Engineers, London, England for development of Acoustic Emission Bridge Monitoring.
