Jon is a well-known veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine who also has extensive experience in Cardiology and Interventional Radiology. He is Head of Cardiology and a Specialist in Small Animal Medicine at Southfields Veterinary Specialists in Basildon. He was formerly Clinical Director of Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service and prior to this Head of Cardiology and Consultant in Small Animal Medicine at Dick White Referrals for 12 years. He is also Honorary Associate Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Nottingham and a visiting Lecturer at Universities of Copenhagen and Lusofona (Lisbon). He is author of the book 'Canine Internal Medicine: What's your diagnosis?' and in 2018 was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (FRCVS) for Meritorious Contribution to Clinical Practice and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).Jon has previously headed Internal Medicine referral services at the Animal Health Trust and Willows Referrals, Cardiorespiratory Medicine at the University of Bristol and Cardiology at Dick White Referrals. He has been RCVS Chief Examiner in Small Animal Medicine at both Diploma and Certificate level and has been Chief Examiner for CertAVP (Small Animal Medicine) at the University of Liverpool. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally in the fields of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Radiology and Education and is published in these areas in peer-reviewed journals, in book chapters and in the non peer-reviewed veterinary press. Jon's clinical interests are congenital heart disease, episodic weakness / collapse, medical diagnostics, application of logic in medical problem-solving, interventional radiology / cardiology, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and all aspects of cardiorespiratory medicine.
