About Jonas Persson
My education consists of a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, focusing on biomolecular chemistry, followed by a PhD in Immunotechnology. Since I finished my dissertation I have done two post docs, three years at University of Washington, and 1 year at Lund University. I am currently working as a scientist at the Royal Institute of Technology.During the course of my education and work I have specialised in immunotechnology, phage display, protein chemistry and gene therapy. I have a big interest in scientific questions and I feel very much at home searching for empirical answers. I have a broad skill set and I have so far used it mainly in cancer related applications.Personally I am curious, reliable, highly motivated, and have a good sense of humor. A continuous interest in science has brought me into this professional field.

This included working with cell lines, animal models, virus vector design, modifying hematopoietic stem cells and qPCR.• Identified a new cell surface receptor for adenovirus serotypes 3, 7, 11, and 14 leading to a new virus classification.• Found and identified novel ovarian cancer markers.• Improved cancer survival rates by utilized the opening of tight junctions for augmentation of cancer treatment by chemotherapeutic and monoclonal antibody drugs.• Augmentation of Rituximab based B cell depletion by transiently removing CD46.• Improved cancer survival rates by designing and implementing a gene therapy used in conjunction with antibody treatment.
