As a project architect and design lead, I am involved in large scale master planning, schematic design and massing, client presentations and collateral, and design charrettes with team members inside and outside our office. The projects are mid to large scale commercial and civic, both private and publicly funded.

Upon transferring within my current firm, my roles below continued, as well as expanded to interviewing and winning as Lead Designer for a 300K square foot new construction lab / office building in South San Francisco encompassing site master planning, concept and massing design, and organizational / functional layout. I also worked on schematic and interior design development for Stanford's Bass Biology Building and Regional Dock, a high rise developer office building for BioMed Realty, as well as a multitude of project visualization and presentations for client and project chases.

Working directly with each project's lead designer as well as interior and exterior experts from our firm and consultants, I have had hands on design authorship on nearly every project that has come through our office. Working extensively on project chases, I developed strong concept and visualization, as well as client communication skills. I have had the unique experience to work on a 5 year, $100 MM, extremely complicated project from concept to completion, functioning as the project architect for the later half of the project and construction administration. I have also functioned as the lead design on smaller projects, and am embedded into larger project teams with authorship of individual pieces of a larger design thesis. With each unique project, a new set of consultants and managing team members comes into play, and I have been the point person for coordination on various scales of projects, forming relationships with area engineering firms and contractors.

This was a smaller firm of only 2 - 3 people, but it served very well for my collegiate internship. My responsibilities included initial schematic design on small projects, construction documents, change orders, coordination with mechanical and structural engineers, client consultation, some construction administration, and office management during the principal's vacation time. I worked on various scales of projects, focusing on residential, including individual home additions, medium renovations, church and interest group non-profit work, and multi-million dollar condominium renovations and constructions.

As a design build collaboration, the company constructed homes in the $150,000 range to market and use a prefab “core” unit for all the kitchen, bathroom, and mechanical rooms. I designed, detailed and built large scale mockups of construction details, and was part of the final home construction and site work crew.
