After over 19 years working for legacy Davis Langdon and then AECOM, I officially retired in 2021.However, I am lingering on doing some freelance work for AECOM. I am also available to do other freelance work such as technical writing - if it is interesting.After 45+ years in the Construction Industry, in contracting and consulting, I have learned a lot. It is possible that I am the leading expert on understanding how a specification goes together.It has occurred to me that I have an unusual skill set. I grasp technical matters very quickly and have the English language skills to produce written documents effectively.I see this as something useful. Producing documents in plain English is best done by a native English speaker. I have some experience of working with people who speak English well as a second language. However, they can't quite get their documents written in a way that everyone will understand.Native English speakers can fall into the trap of "wordiness". This can be identified by the use of "padding" or subjective words that weaken the effectiveness of documents. The result can be difficult to understand or fail to achieve the desired outcome.I am happy to help.
