Jon is a founding member of the firm and focuses his practice on complex product liability matters in state and federal courts. Jon has extensive experience representing designers and manufacturers of industrial machinery, motorized vehicles and watercraft, medical devices, outdoor power equipment, tools, electrical switches and components (including medium and high voltage distribution systems) and consumer goods. Over the years, Jon has developed a specialty in investigating fires and explosions to determine their origin and cause defending against allegations that violate the scientific method.

Jonathan Barton was an equity shareholder of SPvG and part of the firm’s products liability practice group and was active in the firm’s general litigation and business litigation practice.

Directed representation of 57 public and private hospitals in commercial litigation, products liability, toxic tort with a special focus on tobacco products liability litigation. Coordinated and engaged in discovery for complex non-class certified, commercial litigation involving actual damages in excess of one billion dollars and over 100 parties.

Practicing primarily in the areas of insurance defense including personal injury litigation, commercial litigation, products liability, premises liability, trademark infringement, transportation law and workers’ compensation.
