With over 27 years of working as a teacher, curriculum leader, senior leader and Headteacher in secondary schools, I am very proud to be Headteacher at Options Autism's Brookthorpe Hall School.Brookthorpe Hall is an independent education setting which provides personalised education and care for autistic children between the ages of 8 and 16. I am immensely proud of the school's reputation for inclusion and its curriculum model that focuses on academic progress, enrichment, SMSC and GATSBY benchmarks for all students. OFSTED (February 2020) judged the school to be 'good' in all aspects and praised the inclusivity and moral purpose of school leaders. Progress 8 scores were positive for seven successive years with EHCP students making very good progress.As Headteacher, I was very proud of embedding the school's values across the entire community and aligning strategic school improvement around a shared vision and identified priorities. A culture of student and staff wellbeing was prioritised and became a firm feature within the culture of the school.I have also performed the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead throughout my headship and led the inclusion team. The inclusion team ensured that safeguarding, SEND and pastoral colleagues collaborated to meet the individual needs of priority students. In previous senior leadership roles, I assumed whole school responsibility for teaching and learning strategies. This involved planning, leading and evaluating INSET and personalised CPD that was linked to performance management and quality assurance processes. In addition, I have vast experience of leading and collaborating with SEND and Inclusion teams to ensure that students are able to fully access the full curriculum across key stages 3, 4 and 5.
