As a former math teacher, department chair, assessment chair, and remediation chair, I am committed to fostering all children, preservice and inservice teachers, and school personnel in becoming mathematically proficient citizens. My areas of expertise include Problem Solving, Assessment and evaluation within mathematics education contexts, Modeling with mathematics and model-eliciting activities, and mathematics professional development. I am lead co-developer for the Problem-Solving Measures for grades 6-8, which are commercially available for purchase by scholars, school districts, and those working in industry. The Measures assess an individual's ability to solve problems within the context of the Common Core State Standards. Their outcomes are validated alongside the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (see AERA, APA, & NCME, 2014). I am also lead co-developer for the Revised Standards for Mathematical Practice Look-for Protocol. This Protocol is meant to evaluate (and support feedback) of teachers' live and video-taped K-20 mathematics instruction. Finally, I have co-developed and been a part of many professional development teams since 2010 across multiple states focusing on a variety of topics - all with the intent of meeting teachers and districts where they are at, addressing their goals, and supporting students' successes.
