I manage the Met Office Data service S1100 and S0500 Tape change contract at the Met Office on behalf of SSE Contracting, which is contracted through G4S UK Ltd Facilities Management. My role predominantly is to manage a core team of data engineers, who look after the entire data network from telephony to installing new IT equipment. There are various IT programmes that we need to use and update on a regular basis from BMC Remedy, Patch manager, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.I both attend and chair regular meetings with both the Met office and G4S UK Ltd representatives to ensure that our contract is performing to the high standard that is expected from us and I pride myself that I have managed to develop a very good relationship with two prestigious clients. Due to an ever changing work load and the constant ebbs and flows through uplifts I work directly with my Contracts engineer to constantly manage the labour forecast to ensure that effective use of labour is maintained to maximise efficiency and profit.I undertake regular audits, site safety engagements, updating training records etc. I ensure that all work undertaken complies with the relevant BS and site specific JSP standards. In addition I have trained and I constantly monitor the operatives on their health and safety and I produce regular reports to ensure that compliance with stringent H&S requirements is met.I have produced and distributed to the client very comprehensive Health and Safety paperwork like SHE Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments, etc. I work directly with suppliers and manufacturers and raise purchase orders from stock replenishment items to £100,000 of bespoke fibre optical cabling.
