I am managing a group of scientists and engineers that form the Advanced Technologies R&D group in Sensia, a JV by Rockwell Automation and Schlumberger. This is where new technologies are incubated, and put on a path towards commercialized products and services. I also continue to serve as a domain expert for upstream and midstream production topics. Among the exciting technologies currently in the portfolio:- Artificial Intelligence engines and user experience-driven design that enable high performant surveillance of assets at scale (thousands+).- Autonomous operations with higher levels of cognitive intelligence for challenging applications such as subsurface electrical submersible pumps.- Single and Multi-Agent AI strategies for self-driving, self-optimizing systems- Operationalization of digital twins as state engines within advanced process or model predictive control systems, towards higher levels of optimization in the upstream environment. This involves the application of data science, machine learning, modeling and simulation, system identification, constraints handling and auto-calibration techniques- The use of hi-speed electrical measurements for power quality monitoring and extraction of other useful information from frequency domain analysis for health monitoring of downhole pumps.- Failure Risk Assessment of assets across upstream and midstream to enable proactive interventions- Ultrasonic flow measurement for custody transfer levels of accuracy and uncertainty- New capacitance measurement techniques for unprecedented levels of resolution and accuracy- Technologies relevant to new energy initiatives such as H2, CO2 dense and gaseous phase flow measurement, and power/efficiency optimization control techniquesI also developed and am currently managing the global innovation program within the company

Managing cross-disciplinary software and automation projects out of the newly formed Houston Production Technology Center (HPTC) to bring industry-leading real time Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data-driven analytics (automated events detection), prognostics and failure prediction, and controls and automation for Artificial Lift Production Systems. These technologies can reside both at the Edge and Cloud, and will revolutionize surveillance and field operations in terms of efficiency gains.

Managing cross-disciplinary software projects within the Production and Artificial Lift domains that combine domain knowledge within research, engineering and operations, data science, machine learning, and agile development methodologies. Responsible for strategically aligning these efforts with Schlumberger's evolving IIOT/Digital infrastructure DELFI.

Managing large teams of engineers across a wide variety of technical projects such as:- Well Construction New Product Development (NPD) for North America aimed at driving costs down through efficiency and reliability improvements. This involved new technologies and processes that will revolutionize the way Cementing and Drilling operations are run through Schlumberger's fully automated Rig-of-the-Future (RoF).- Automated fluids manifold under the StimCommander portfolio- New mode of delivery of Dry Friction Reducer using the Process Trailer under the StimCommander portfolioDuring this time, I helped conceive and develop ideas for proppant operations and logistics management using Artificial Intelligence (AI) declarative programming methods such as Planning Domain Definition Language (PDDL) and Answer Set Programming (ASP). These subsequently led to projects to deliver digital tools for operations centers, to manage truck loading/unloading/routing at scale, which led to tens of millions of dollars annually saved on demurrage alone.

Technical leader in New Product Development (NPD) projects for Schlumberger's stimulation surface equipment solutions for the future, pushing envelopes on efficiency and total cost of delivery. Closely involved in concept, design, testing, R&D of new technologies and manufacturing. Actively engaged with Research and Engineering groups for vision and road-map settings. Exploration of disruptive technologies and spearheading innovation initiatives. I am also a Design for Reliability expert and on the Prognostics Health Management (PHM) advisory committee. Examples of technologies (view patent portfolio):- Development of new compact, light, high efficiency synchronous permanent magnet electric motors cooled by process fluids, enabling a radical change to electric fleets from diesel.- Disruptive mixer technology for gel and proppant to enable new processes and step change in life, driven by aggressive reliability and availability targets. These were developed in record time using new methods of experimentation, 3D printing, and modeling & simulation- Maintenance-free designs through Reliability Engineering, e.g., "simplification through elimination"- Electrical integration of key components and cabling with best practices adopted from offshore- Design for Reliability through process control and automation- Design for ManufacturabilityIn 3 years, the StimCommander Process Trailer which is the industry's most advanced electric blending unit has displaced most of the traditional diesel driven blending units in North America for Schlumberger. The technologies listed earlier were implemented on this trailer, enabling industrialization of processes where 24-7 months long operations in the field with advanced levels of automation were now possible. This has led to significant cost savings in the millions of dollars annually, higher equipment utilization and ease of training crews over dynamic business cycles.

As Team Lead, my role is to plan and coordinate the necessary activities with various functions both internal and external, to achieve client specifications and ensure on-time delivery. These include multi-disciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing, supply chain, suppliers, contractors and commissioning teams.All project team leads and managers undergo intensive training to be able to manage project charters, scope, budget, resource planning, scheduling, disturbances, and field support.

Engineering and delivery of Well Services equipment packages for both land and offshore markets. These include cementing, stimulation, coiled tubing and general purpose utilities, ranging from low tier to high tier markets covering a wide geographical range. I am very familiar with relevant certifications requirements from DNV, ABS, Norsok, CE Directives and Hazardous Area design and manufacture (e.g., ATEX, IECEx)Besides being able to function independently and having technical depth in my fields, my role is to contribute technical perspectives that help the formulation of business strategy. I am also responsible for the development of new employees through knowledge sharing and mentoring, as well as the need for professional visibility both internally and externally.
