I was head hunted by senior management to be a part of the planning and delivery of all temporary traffic management implementation for the G20 Leaders Summit. This project involved minute planning with multiple layers of government and agencies. One of the challenges I faced during this time was the need to adjust to change within a short time frame. My role was to create an open and honest working environment that resulted in conducive on-site decision making and acceptable solutions. My direct involvement included traffic management plan assessment, regulatory signage change assessment, auditing these changes (total of 500), coordinating the crowd control and pedestrian fencing installation, attend meetings to discuss temporary traffic management to minimise congestion and localised impact to residents and businesses and on ground operations on behalf of BCC during the event.

A primary component of this role is to assess customer queries around road closures, work zones and on road events. This requires effectively interpreting and communicating the strategies and policies contained within Traffic Operations (Road Use Management) Act (TORUM), Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Congestion Reduction Unit (CRU) processes. In addition to this, the role is also responsible for leading a team of assessors responsible for the delivery of temporary road closure assessments, work zone installations and on road events.
