About Jonathan Cranston
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon from The Royal Veterinary College in 2006. Since then I have worked on five continents and treated in excess of a 100 different species ranging from elephants, lions and crocodiles in Africa to giant pandas in China. In the U.K. I worked in mixed practice for 14 years and also provide a consultancy and private veterinary service which includes emergency capture and immobilisation of animals using the Pneudart excalibur system. In 2020 I relocated to Texas, USA and currently work as an associate for Banfield Pet Hospital. I am registered with The South African Veterinary Council and spend several weeks a year working with Wildlife Vets in South Africa.I am also working in collaboration with HAIFU Medical Technologies, China to bring low intensity therapeutic focused ultrasound, a pioneering technology to the veterinary market.As a veterinary film consultant I was advisor for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society both released in 2018. My book, The Travelling Vet was published in November 2018 and has since been printed in over 10 countries and translated into 6 languages.
