My work experience started at HW Lochner in Miami, where I learned Microstation and designed roads with the engineers of the firm. Then I worked as a Resident Assistant (RA) for a year for FAU, where I grew the most as leader. I oversaw a community of 60 incoming freshman students and helped them all succeed as individuals in the first year of college. Next, I worked at Swaysland Professional Engineering Consultants (SPEC) as a part time AutoCAD technician until I graduated then I was promoted to one of their Staff Engineers. At SPEC, I learned how to investigate and repair concrete for low- and high-rise buildings along the South Florida Coast. At NHWL Engineering as a Civil/Structural Engineer 1, I use Tekla to model steel and concrete, STAAD Pro to analyze the designed steel from Tekla, Ram Connections to design steel connections, and STAAD Foundations Advance to design the concrete foundations from the loads delivered from STAAD Pro. Currently, I work at Jedson as a Structural Engineer.While in school at FAU, I was an active member of the FAU American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter from December 2012 to Spring 2018. I helped to build 3 concrete canoes, 3 steel bridges, and participated in a handful of small competitions. I was the 2016 Steel Bridge Captain and we achieved 7th at the Southeastern ASCE University of Alabama Conference. I also was the 2017 Captain for the Concrete Frisbee where our team achieved 3rd at the Southeastern ASCE FAU conference. More duties over the years participating in ASCE included 2017 Marketing Chair, 2018 Conference Chair and the 2018 Concrete Canoe Mix Captain. In addition, I was the Project Manager of my Senior Design group that won best project at our Senior Showcase while in school at FAU. We were tasked to create two mixed use facilities in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale that would bring Artists and tourism. The fist building was Sistrunk Artist Lofts which was designed to house work/live Artists to create art for the second building Sistrunk Art Gallery. My tasks were to manage the group, make the set of drawings in Autodesk AutoCAD, create a Revit Model, create a high-resolution rendering in Lumion 8 (video attached below), an Augmented Reality Model, and a Virtual Reality walk through with the Oculus Rift. My goals after getting my PE would be to start my own company that designs and builds LEED Certified buildings in Northwest Florida along the coast.
