I am a Graduate CFD Research Assistant in Mechanical Engineering at University of Connecticut, where I conduct cutting-edge research on jet turbine combustor flow and heat transfer using OpenFOAM. My research consists of high-fidelity CFD as well as heat transfer (FEA). I previously completed a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree with a concentration in Aerospace and Design and Manufacturing, and I have completed specialized courses in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Method (FEM), Advanced Thermal Fluids, Turbulence, Combustion, and Propulsion. In addition to my academic work, I have gained valuable industry experience. I worked with Sierra Space's Flight Sciences group as a CFD Aerodynamics Intern. where I integrated Siemens digital products into their aerodynamics workflow for data standardization and automated CFD case set-up and submission for 5+ parameter design sweeps of the DC-200 space shuttle simulating realistic flight conditions. I have also developed skills in drones and drone mapping, which I am passionate about and eager to apply to innovative projects. I am motivated by challenging problems that require creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning, and I strive to contribute to the advancement of engineering and technology.

Graduate Research Assistant In Mechanical EngineeringUniversity Of Connecticut May 2022 - Nov 2024Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut, United StatesComputational Thermal Fluids Research Lab PI: Dr. Xinyu ZhaoInvestigation and modeling of realistic flow characteristics of jet turbine combustor using transient solvers wall-resolved LES and wall-modeled LES in OpenFOAM. Implemented a conjugate heat transfer (convective, and radiative components) coupled with solid conduction model to show response and feedback of solid material Temperature of combustor boundary to both non-reacting and chemically reacting compressible flow. Validated CFD using Backward Facing Step rig experimental data from Penn State Reacting Flow Dynamics Laboratory.Analyzed radiative heat transfer using novel in house high-fidelity GPU compatible Monte Carlo ray tracing code. Led computational efforts in joint research projects that collaborated with multiple experimental teams of up to 10 people. Ongoing Analysis of the effects of different Sub Grid Stress models for wall-resolved LES of complex flows with recirculation.Constructed high quality structured and unstructured CFD meshes for Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine model for validation against experimental test rig at University of Alabama Huntsville. -
