I worked through the 1990s and early noughtys in London and the Midlands as a Landscape Architect both in the public and private sectors on a multitude of UK projects, before becoming the Site Manager of the Grade II listed Hungerhill Gardens in Nottingham, where I worked to secure and deliver a 4.5 million heritage site restoration. I came to work for Natural England in 2009 as the East of England Landscape Specialist.Through my previous employment I have worked closely with clients, design teams, landowners and stakeholders, as well as the general public to bring the best out in environmental and design projects. This has involved all stages of project development, from initiation through to supervising onsite work as a Landscape Architect and Site Manager. I have a wide range of experience in project management, landscape design and management, land use planning, environmental conservation and countryside management, including leisure and cultural heritage issues, community and pubic projects in both urban and rural locations. My previous roles together with my work within Natural England has provided me with a good understanding of ways to bring people and the natural environment together. From living in rural Suffolk for over 20 years, I also have a good knowledge and experience of the landscape and biodiversity of the east of England and have a good understanding of the cultural influences on its landscape together with the opportunities, pressures and constraints that those who work and live within it face. I thoroughly enjoy working with people from all aspects of life and get great satisfaction from making improvements to our environment and stimulating others awareness to do the same through combined working.
