As an MD-PhD candidate in Translational Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix, I am passionate about finding innovative solutions for pediatric and adult pulmonary diseases and cancers.I also have extensive experience in studying autophagy, genome stability, and neurodegeneration using yeast as a model organism at the Kaplan Lab, where I managed laboratory operations and mentored junior researchers. Additionally, I have been a private organic chemistry tutor for over four years, developing effective teaching methods and resources for students. My core competencies include communication, problem solving, and tutoring. My goal is to pursue a career in pathology or internal medicine with a fellowship in oncology or pulmonary and critical care.

Md-Phd StudentKalinichenko Lab Jun 2023 - PresentPhoenix, Arizona, United StatesI am a Translational Science Doctoral Student researching genetic and drug therapies for pediatric pulmonary diseases. My work includes screening FDA-approved drugs for transcription factors such as FoxM1 and Tbx4, which are involved in cancer, tissue regeneration, and pulmonary hypertension. I am developing nanoparticle-based gene therapies targeting lung tissue to alleviate Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia and designing a TBX4 gene therapy for mesenchymal cells as a potential treatment for TBX4-related lung diseases. Additionally, I use scRNA-seq analysis looking at murine and human samples to identify new transcriptional targets for gene therapies in mesenchymal cells for BPD.

Laboratory Operations ManagerKaplan Lab Nov 2018 - Jun 2022DavisJunior Specialist studying autophagy in the context of genome stability and neurodegeneration using yeast as a model organism. I utilize genetic tools and microscopy to dissect pathways of autophagy during replication stress. Through this analysis, we aim to understand the receptors and targets for degradation, as well as the role of autophagy in maintaining phase separations between liquid-liquid compartments during replication stress. We apply these same tools to understand how Alpha Syn-nuclein, a protein implicated in Parkinson’s, can impair and disrupt proteostasis. Our ultimate goal is to understand the mechanisms for future cancer and proteostatic therapeutics
