I designed and implemented the concept, branding, menu and overall ethos to drive a chic eatery aimed at the high-end professionals who work and frequent the Quayside. Using my previous experience within P&G's financial services organisation (as well as my Business & Management MA) I was able to:-- Maximise the bottom line thorough analysis of cost control to deliver:-• Improved COS Year on year by 4%,• Reduce variable wage % year on year by 5%• leveraging fixed cost options where possible to improve margin, i.e energy, waste, broadband &telephone.- Leading by example in regard to customer focus to deliver outstanding customer feedback:-• Achieving a rating comfortably in the top 10% of all places to eat in Newcastle on Trip Advisor (Currently #78 of 1,416 places to eat in Newcastle - from 128 reviews)• 4.9 out of 5 rating on Facebook (from 67 reviews).• 4.5 out of 5 rating on Google reviews (from 102 reviews).I was also responsible for all staff recruitment and developing a clear recruitment strategy. As hospitality relies heavily on the quality and training of the people driving the service, it was key to ensure that people with the correct attributes were attracted to the business. I also ensured that any disciplinary action (where necessary) was undertaken in accordance with employment law and to ensure minimal impact on the business or risk of alienating the employee. Furthermore, I conducted all in house of staff training. This training included:-• Health & Safety (including fire safety & emergency evacuation procedures)• Basic first aid • Food safety (Using the guidelines set out in “Safer food, Better business for caterers”)Furthermore, as director of a small limited company I worked with our accountancy firm toensure all legal, tax, and payroll obligations were met and submissions and payments were completed accurately and in a timely manner. I also had to communicate effectively in order to ensure effective involvement of those stakeholders, both upstream (P&G's sales teams, etc) and downstream (customers' Accounts Payable departments, etc).In my previous role at P&G I was responsible for overseeing governance of international tax compliance for employees posted abroad on expatriate assignments. This involved working with P&G's social security tax vendor (Ernst & Young) to identify current and historic areas of tax compliance risk and potential social security gaps for employees posted abroad. I then worked to mitigate those tax risk areas through implementation of robust processes, as well as aiding HR to highlight any gaps in employees' long term benefits that may have been affected historically which needed to be addressed.
