As the Director of Technology, I lead a team of amazingly talented individuals in order to advance our capabilities in this dynamic industry, spearheading the adoption of new technologies, as well as refining current technologies. I have had the great fortune to help expand the company, first collaborating with others in order to stand up our Vancouver Studio, and subsequently leading the move, in partnership with our systems department, to a centralized North American Datacenter in Portland, where we now host our desktops, render farm, storage, and service infrastructure, before helping stand up facilities in Hyderabad and then Montreal. Along the way, I established our Pipeline and Core Software departments, oversaw the shift from a show-centric to a facility-centric development model, drove the introduction of service orchestration, instrumentation, containerization, build automation, and, along with our Director of Systems, currently lead our efforts to integrate cloud based rendering into the mix. And that skips over oodles of development, management, meetings, budgeting, probably a fair number of mis-steps (lessons learned), and hopefully more good decisions, stemming from a tireless passion for art and technology, and a wealth of great advice and opinions - solicited and otherwise - from every corner of this vibrant company.
