I served at Poplar Ridge Christian Church as a Worship/Groups Coordinator. It was a part-time position in which I coordinated teams to serve in worship and groups capacities.

At Poplar Ridge, I worked with Evan Wolfe, a local minister to develop my preaching skills and also my ability to coordinate and lead small groups. Throughout the summer, I evaluated the health of Poplar Ridge’s small groups and helped create and teach at a Small Group Leader Training Camp. I also preached there over the summer. I also volunteered to help with a number of the summer events Poplar Ridge Hosted which included a July 4th celebration called Freedom Fest.

I specifically worked in Hyder House!

I served as a Construction intern in Prestonsburg KY. My main role was not constructing itself, but rather supervising construction and divvying out tasks to members of churches according to the respective projects. I also led small groups every night and led members on group hikes every Wednesday. From this internship, I gained experience in driving a 15-passenger van and working as a team in high-intensity ministry situations.

Intern at Mountain Christian Church. Here I served as a Pastoral Ministry intern, involving myself in multiple preaching and teaching venues, preaching five times total from to a variety of ages (2-29 years old). I served as a leader in the young adults small groups, served as a table host at the Welcome to Mountain class, and have preached at Collide, their high school ministry. I participated in a Leadership Small Group with the elders and Senior Minister, Ben Cachiaras, in an effort to raise up leaders in the church.

There I served as an interim youth minister, planning events over the summer and teaching every Wednesday night. Furthermore, I played piano every Sunday and planned a few of the worship service. I taught the Adult Sunday School class every Sunday. Finally, I taught the young adult Bible study and ended the internship with a sermon. My responsibilities included: observing, and learning how to prepare lessons, preparing lessons, writing articles for the weekly church newsletter, observing pastoral care in the form of home visits and hospital visits, attending elders’ meetings and young adult Bible study.
