Training included a DHC-8 (Q400) Type Rating from Flight Safety International in Seattle. Once flying the line, I logged just over 1000 hours of time flying throughout the Western states and Rocky Mountains. During this time I gained experience in EFIS displays, FMS/FMC use, and RNP/RNAV approaches.

Barrow, Alaska

During my time flying in Alaska I had the opportunity to fly both the Beechcraft 1900C and the Cessna Caravan (C208B). The flying varied greatly from the mountains to the arctic tundra of the North Slope. Duties included: loading and unloading cargo, fueling, and flying in some of the most beautiful country on earth.

This position was operated under United Express and the associated policies and procedures of United Airlines. Duties included: checking in passengers, loading/unloading bags, passenger boarding, and baggage services. Our station serviced the EMB 120 with passenger service to LAX eight times daily.

This job allowed me the opportunity to learn more about the aviation industry as well as gain industry experience in my field of study. Duties included: loading and unloading bags, sorting outgoing baggage, lost baggage services, and fueling equipment.

Airline Support was my first job in the aviation industry. This job provided me a behind the scenes preview on what to expect when working for an airline, while not directly working for an airline. Duties included: cleaning, catering, and servicing aircraft at Anchorage International Airport. Other duties included: shuttling pilots to and from hotels, prepping crew meals, and building crew meal orders.
